Russian forces launched a massive overnight drone attack on Ukraine on June 6, deploying a total of 272 unmanned aerial vehicles, including Shahed combat drones, jet variants, and decoy drones of the “Parodiya” type. Ukraine’s air defense said it intercepted or suppressed 249 of the drones, while 19 struck 11 different locations.

In Zaporizhzhia, a morning attack hit critical and industrial infrastructure. Rescue workers found the bodies of two workers on the grounds of an affected enterprise. Fedorov later reported that the death toll had risen to five. The extent of damage to the facilities is still being assessed.

The drones were launched from several Russian regions—Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Millerovo—as well as from occupied Hvardiiske in Crimea. The Russian military used a mix of Shahed combat drones, jet variants, Gerber and Italmas drones, along with “Banderol” and “Parodiya” decoys to overwhelm air defenses.
