Wolfsburg has been relegated from the Bundesliga. Nevertheless, the German Football League (DFL) honors the club with a special award: the prize for the best pitch of the past season. FAZ reports that the DFL is thus offering the relegated team a kind of professional condolence.
The consolation prize awarded by the DFL is the so-called Golden Watering Can. It is presented annually to the club with the best pitch quality. For Wolfsburg, it is a small bright spot in a sportingly disappointing season that ended in relegation.
