Ukraine’s defense industry has modernized the launch platform of the Neptune missile complex to fire the newly developed Areion drone-missile. According to 24tv, citing published technical data, the Areion is delivered in a special transport and launch container and can be launched from the standard self-propelled Neptune ramp. It can also be fired from a universal trailer or semi-trailer.

The drone-missile was developed by the state design bureau Luch in Kyiv and is based on the earlier Palianytsia project. According to technical specifications, the Areion has a range of up to 600 kilometers and carries a payload of about 100 to 120 kilograms. The system is designed to strike enemy targets deep in the rear, including coastal infrastructure and stationary installations, even under active electronic countermeasures.

A special feature is its ability to fly at extremely low altitudes starting from 20 meters, making detection and interception by enemy air defenses significantly more difficult. Ukraine’s SkyFall recently presented its unmanned systems at the Berlin Air Show 2026, Europe’s largest aerospace exhibition, alongside Airbus, Boeing, Rheinmetall, and Lockheed Martin.
