Ukrainian forces have severed all land routes from the occupied Kherson region to occupied Crimea through targeted strikes on several bridges and logistics routes, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reports. The attacks target supply lines for Russian troops on the peninsula.
Vladimir Saldo, the Russian-appointed head of the occupation administration in Kherson, said on June 11 that Ukrainian forces had struck the bridge over the North Crimean Canal near the occupied settlements of Preobrazhenka and Myrne, the Perekop–Armiansk road bridge, and the Stavky bridge. These structures cross the North Crimean Canal and run along the M-17 Armiansk–Oleshky highway.
A Ukrainian commander said on the same day that the attacks had damaged or destroyed about 50 Russian military trucks carrying fuel and ammunition. Russian troops had shifted their logistics to the route via Armiansk after Ukrainian strikes on the night of June 7–8 and on June 9 damaged the Chonhar bridge. The occupation authorities subsequently closed the bridge to traffic.
The ISW notes that Ukraine is intensifying its campaign of medium-range strikes on Russian supply routes in the occupied south. The continued strikes could have “cascading effects on the battlefield and complicate Russia’s preparation for offensive operations,” the analysts said.
