The Bundesrat has approved a law to reduce bureaucracy within the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI), the German government announced. The aim is to simplify administrative processes, eliminate duplicate structures, and embed digital solutions in the federal administration. The government is thus continuing its modernisation agenda for the state and its administration.

Friedrich Merz (CDU) said: “We have the ambition to get back to the top.” The new regulations are intended to relieve the administration and strengthen the state’s capacity to act. Specifically, they target the simplification of procedures and the removal of hurdles across the entire federal administration.
