Bundesratspräsident Andreas Bovenschulte (SPD) has spoken out against overburdening the state with political reforms. The Bremen mayor warned, according to Deutschlandfunk, that an excess of legislative projects could overstretch the state’s capacity to act.
Bovenschulte has been Bundesratspräsident since November 2023 and is also head of government of the city-state of Bremen. His criticism targets the growing number of parallel reform projects, which he says burden both administrations and politics alike.
