The young Dortmund resident was driving on the Ruhrallee (B54) toward the city center around 9 p.m. on June 16. Police officers were conducting speed checks when the VW Golf approached the measuring point at about 160 km/h. An officer gave a clear stop signal with a baton – the driver only braked after the officer had to jump aside.
During the check, it turned out that the 18-year-old had already had his license confiscated a few weeks earlier – also for excessive speeding in the city center. However, he had quickly gotten it back. Now police have initiated two investigations: one for participation in an illegal street race and one for endangering road traffic.
The officers also prepared a report for the driver’s licensing authority, which is to assess the Dortmund resident’s suitability to drive. A quick return of the license is considered unlikely.
