The three volunteers, part of a volunteer territorial defense formation in cooperation with the 122nd Territorial Brigade, detected and tracked the enemy drone before deploying the experimental interceptor drone ‘Black Prince,’ developed by engineers from Izmail. The target was destroyed in mid-air.

Before the operation, all participants had completed specialized training at a training center.

One of the drone’s developers explained his motivation: ‘My attitude toward the Russians is this – I didn’t invite them here, and I don’t need to be protected here.’

The navigator, call sign ‘Neva,’ said: ‘We applied all the algorithms we were taught. It was our first combat mission.’

The youngest participant, a 22-year-old operator with the call sign ‘Cash,’ added: ‘In a critical situation, you sink to the level of your training. I quickly aligned the aircraft and flew toward the target.’

According to the participants, a mobile fire group provided cover during the operation.

The use of thermal imaging sights and specialized targeting algorithms allows operators to focus exclusively on the target.

The regional military administration emphasizes that deploying civilians for such tasks is only possible after training and under military control.

Currently, expanding this practice and introducing financial incentives for volunteers is under consideration.

The crews continue their combat missions, as attacks on Ukraine’s southern regions and port infrastructure remain regular.
