In the early hours of Sunday, the Hamburg fire department was called to a hotel near the main train station after a fire was reported shortly after midnight. A total of 14 people were injured, one seriously, with the others suffering minor injuries.

According to initial findings, the fire broke out in the basement of the building opposite Hamburg’s central bus station (ZOB) and threatened to spread to other floors. Due to heavy smoke, guests could not leave the hotel on their own. The fire department used aerial ladder trucks to evacuate people.

Around 160 emergency personnel were on the scene. Police could not immediately provide information on the cause of the fire or the extent of property damage. The street in front of the hotel remained closed during rescue operations, as reported by NDR.
