Defender King Manu is staying with promoted side Energie Cottbus. The 2. Bundesliga club has permanently signed the previously loaned center-back, dpa reports.

The 22-year-old comes from Fortuna Düsseldorf, where his contract became void due to relegation to the 3. Liga. Last season, Manu played 28 league games for Cottbus and scored two goals – the Lausitz side earned promotion.

The Cologne native went through the youth system of Borussia Mönchengladbach, among others, and was under contract as a professional with Hansa Rostock. At the same time, Italian right-back Simon Straudi left the club and joined Dynamo Dresden.
