Bosnia-Herzegovina beat Qatar 3-1 (2-1) in Seattle to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive. In front of 66,925 spectators, Kerim Alajbegović (29th minute), an own goal by Sultan Al-Brake (34th) and Ermin Mahmić (80th) scored for Bosnia. Qatar finish bottom of the group with just one point from three matches.
In the parallel Group B match, Switzerland beat Canada 2-1 (0-0) at BC Place in Vancouver. Rubén Vargas (46th) and Johan Manzambi (57th) scored for Switzerland, who finish as group winners. Promise David (76th) scored for Canada. The Canadians will now have to start the knockout stage in the United States.
Bosnia-Herzegovina can still advance to the round of 32 as the third-placed team. However, coach Sergej Barbarez’s side will need help from other groups.
