The Bavarian Football Association (BFV) has canceled all matches and tournaments it organizes for the upcoming weekend due to the current heatwave. BFV Christoph Kern said: “We have a duty of care, and we are fulfilling it with this decision.” Nearly 4,400 youth matches across Bavaria are affected by the cancellation.
Kern emphasized that protecting health is the top priority. “We do not want to expose children and young people to unnecessary health risks from high temperatures and physical exertion,” he added. The association appeals to club officials to also cancel test or friendly matches or reschedule them to cooler morning or evening hours.
TSV 1860 Munich, however, plans to play a friendly match on Sunday at 5 p.m. against FC Sportfreunde Schwaig. After internal discussions and coordination with the hosts, the match will take place as scheduled.
