Stuttgart and top scorer Deniz Undav are negotiating an extension of his contract, which runs until summer 2027. As Undav told Sky after the 3-1 win against Bayer Leverkusen, the talks are ‘very good’. The 29-year-old emphasized: ‘I know what I have here. They appreciate me. So everything is good – for now.’ The cautious addition hints at the complexity of the negotiations, which likely involve the last major contract of his career.
VfB CEO Alexander Wehrle recently announced in Sport 1 that the club would make a ‘very appreciative offer’. However, the club must also maintain its wage structure. Undav is already among the top earners with an annual salary of up to 4.5 million euros. According to information from the Stuttgart editorial team, the player’s side is demanding a salary of 6.5 million euros including bonuses over a four-year term – until Undav would be 35.
Striking partner Ermedin Demirovic is confident that Undav will stay. ‘Of course these are tough negotiations, that’s part of football,’ said the Bosnian. ‘But everyone hopes he stays. And I am very convinced that he will continue to be available to us.’ A decision is expected in the coming weeks.
