The sporting director of the German Football Association (DFB) recalled the World Cup knockout match against Paraguay, which he himself experienced as a player. Völler used the appearance primarily to give Nagelsmann support.

The 65-year-old emphasized that Nagelsmann is no longer as inexperienced as at the start of his tenure and makes courageous decisions. Völler expressed confidence that the team will improve under Nagelsmann. The press conference took place on Saturday in Winston-Salem, where the German national team is preparing for its World Cup round of 16 match.
