Alexander Zverev has complained of a grass allergy just before the start of Wimbledon. According to Spiegel, the tennis pro had to sneeze in front of reporters but gave the all-clear.

The 27-year-old explained that he was feeling fine, he had a grass allergy. “I have it every year,” Zverev said. Medically, it is usually a grass pollen allergy, not a real grass allergy.

Zverev is competing at Wimbledon for the first time as a Grand Slam champion. Three weeks ago, he won the French Open in Paris. “It does feel different,” he said. “Simply with more joy, more freedom somehow.”

At Wimbledon, Zverev is seeded second, behind Jannik Sinner from Italy. On Tuesday, he faces Belgian Alexander Blockx in the first round. Wimbledon has been his weakest Grand Slam tournament so far – he has never made it past the fourth round. “I feel that I am well prepared,” Zverev said.
