Air raid sirens wailed in Kyiv as at least seven powerful explosions shook the city between 2:00 and 2:35 a.m. local time. Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, confirmed that the capital was shelled with ballistic weapons. The attacks focused on the Darnytskyi district on the left bank of the Dnipro River. The strikes sparked several fires — on the grounds of a residential building, a car repair shop, and an empty non-residential building. Emergency crews are on site extinguishing the fires and assessing the damage.

In the northern city of Chernihiv, Russian attack drones struck. According to the city council, drone debris fell on the grounds of a local school. One building of the educational complex was damaged, and the blast wave shattered windows of a neighboring five-story apartment building. Two people were injured.

In the central-eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian strikes hit gas stations in the Dniprovskyi and Samarivskyi districts. The attacks caused fires and damaged several vehicles, injuring two people. In addition, the Russian army shelled the Nikopol district, including the city of Nikopol and the communities of Chervonohryhorivka, Marhanets, and Pokrovske. The shelling ignited a fire in a sports school building. All fires in the region have since been extinguished.

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday summed up the past week: Russia used about 1,400 attack drones, 1,500 guided glide bombs, and 19 missiles of various types against 15 Ukrainian regions. “With different types of weapons, the Russians strike at people, ordinary residential buildings, and our civilian infrastructure,” Zelensky said. He again called on international partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense, especially with systems to counter ballistic missiles, and to impose tougher sanctions on Moscow.
