Ukrainian SSO Strike Yaroslavl Oil Refinery – Key Fuel Supplier for Moscow

Units of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO) attacked the Yaroslavl oil refinery in Russia on the night of June 28. The SSO said the plant is one of the country's largest and supplies fuel to Moscow, among other areas.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with the Russian underground network “Black Spark,” the special forces said. The Slavneft-YANOS refinery processes about 15 million tons of crude oil annually, producing high-grade gasoline, diesel, and kerosene – including fuel for military logistics.

The plant is considered strategically important for the energy supply of Moscow and all of central Russia. The SSO emphasized that attacks on Russian oil and gas infrastructure are part of a systematic pressure campaign against the aggressor’s war economy. Further operations against critical infrastructure will continue.

In the same night, Ukrainian forces also struck the Slavyansk refinery in the Krasnodar region, which has been the target of a coordinated campaign for 40 days. In addition, a railway bridge on the occupied Crimea was hit, used for supplying Russian troops. A munitions depot near Amvrosiivka in eastern Ukraine was also attacked; the results are still being assessed.
