On the night of June 30, dozens of Ukrainian drones attacked Moscow and the surrounding region. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 61 drones were intercepted. Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that a drone crashed into a private house in the town of Yegoryevsk, injuring three people and killing a six-month-old child. Debris from Ukrainian drones also damaged an administrative building in the town of Dubna.

Dubna is home to the largest Russian satellite communications center (ZKZ) “Dubna,” a branch of the state-owned company “Kosmicheskaya Svyaz.” It was built for the 1980 Olympic Games and is Russia’s largest teleport and one of the largest in Europe.

Ukrainian forces had already struck the center on the night of June 22. According to the Ukrainian General Staff, the antenna complex of the 32-meter MARK-IV antenna and a technical building were damaged. The main administrative building, which houses central communications hardware and ground control equipment, was also hit, partially destroying a wall. Satellite images from the OSINT channel Exilenova+ showed traces of fire or explosions on the roofs of two buildings next to the MARK-IV antenna.

President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on June 30 that Ukraine’s “long-range sanctions” had reached the center again. He described it as “a special satellite communications facility used, among other things, for reconnaissance and coordination of the activities of the Russian occupation contingent in Ukraine.” Zelensky emphasized that four such centers have already been attacked—not only in the Moscow region but also in the Vladimir region.
