The ruling is now scheduled for July 10 at 10 a.m., according to the BBC from the courtroom. This means the sanctions imposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky remain in place for now.

Poroshenko expressed confidence before the hearing: “I have not the slightest doubt about my right and am firmly convinced that my victory will be a victory for Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, democracy, European integration, and ultimately a victory for Zelensky.” The sanctions were imposed in February 2025 by a decree from Zelensky, based on a proposal from the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC). Poroshenko has been trying to challenge them in court for nearly a year and a half.

Poroshenko’s lawyer, Illia Novikov, hinted at possible pressure on the judges after the session. “We are giving the participants another chance to come to their senses and not take the final step,” Novikov said. “This is an abnormal situation, but we expect the court to be strong enough and the judges determined enough not to yield to such attempts.”
