Ukrainian forces have dealt a heavy blow to Russian supply lines with targeted strikes against Russian military targets in occupied Crimea and southern Ukraine. According to Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, Russian infantry units are forced to march up to 30 kilometers on foot to reach the front line.
Fedorov spoke on Wednesday at a joint press conference in Kyiv with Swedish Defense Minister Pål Jonson. “We already see, for example, in the south, front-line sectors where Russian infantry, because logistics have been destroyed, must walk 30 kilometers to reach their positions,” Fedorov said, according to Interfax-Ukraine. The disruptions also hamper troop transport, supplies, and fuel deliveries for generators used by drone operators.
According to Fedorov, these problems reduce the intensity of Russian attacks on Ukraine. He also pointed to signs of a fuel and infrastructure crisis within Russia itself: “We see that they announced fuel sales via QR code in Crimea, then canceled the plan, and now it is impossible to buy fuel at all.” The campaign against Russian military infrastructure is part of the 40-day operation announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, aimed at increasing pressure on Russia and forcing it to peace. “So far, everything is going according to plan,” Fedorov said.
