After days of shutdown due to heat damage, Nuremberg has resumed tram service on a first section. Trams are running every ten minutes on the initial stretch.

Transport company VAG resumed operations on the line from Worzeldorfer Straße via Landgrabenstraße to Plärrer. Trams are shuttling every ten minutes on that section, according to VAG. Further lines are to follow once they have been cleaned.

The heat had softened the bitumen used as filler between rails and road surface. The viscous mass wrapped around tram wheels, soiling tracks and running gear. VAG consequently suspended tram services over the weekend.
