According to 24tv, the bombers took off from the Olenya military airfield. At least three Tu-95MS are heading toward launch lines in Russia’s Saratov region. Monitoring channels suggest the number of aircraft could still increase. Two Tu-160 bombers are also reportedly in the air.
Monitoring channels believe cruise missile launches could occur between 01:30 and 04:00 local time. President Volodymyr Zelensky had already warned on July 5 of a new massive attack. He stated that the Kremlin plans the strike after the US Independence Day and before the NATO summit in Ankara.
On July 2, Russia launched a combined attack with 74 missiles and 496 drones, primarily targeting Kyiv. Over 30 people died and more than 100 were injured. Air defense intercepted 524 targets, but numerous residential buildings were damaged.
