Russian attackers used not only the well-known Shahed drones but also Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoys during the night of July 7. The launches occurred from multiple locations, including Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalovo, Millerovo, occupied Donetsk, and Cape Chauda in Crimea, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
Fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, drone systems, and mobile fire teams were deployed to repel the attacks. By 8:30 a.m., air defense had destroyed or suppressed 108 drones in the north, south, center, and east of the country.
However, twelve combat drones struck ten locations, and debris from downed drones fell at five other sites. Information on possible casualties or damage was not immediately released.
Just the night before, Russia had launched a massive combined attack with 419 aerial assets – a record. That time, the main thrust targeted the capital Kyiv. An attack on the city on the night of July 2 killed 31 people and wounded 102.
