Green Party leader Felix Banaszak sharply criticized the draft law, calling it “botched” and “amateurish and unprofessional.” The background is a 278-page amendment package that was presented to lawmakers only shortly before the planned adoption on Friday. Banaszak spoke of a “gross disregard for our parliamentary work.”
The parliamentary group is now considering an emergency motion to the Federal Constitutional Court — similar to 2023, when then-CDU MP Thomas Heilmann stopped the traffic light coalition’s heating law. Initially, however, the Greens want to have the package removed from the Bundestag’s agenda. A procedural debate is planned for this purpose.
Green parliamentary group leader Katharina Dröge said on ZDF’s “Morgenmagazin” that the coalition had delivered around 300 pages of amendments on Monday, which turned out to be flawed on Tuesday. “This makes solid work impossible.” Adoption could also take place after the summer break in September. Green health expert Janosch Dahmen warned that the law would not stabilize contribution rates but would further burden clinics and medical practices.
