The switch to digital attendance documentation in the Bundestag is imminent. A motion by the CDU, CSU, and SPD aims to amend the parliament’s rules of procedure, replacing the current requirement to display paper lists with digital recording. In the future, members will be able to log in using a chip card, as announced by Johannes Fechner, the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group.

According to Fechner, the change simplifies the process: the time-consuming comparison of lists at multiple entrances will become obsolete.
