Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lawrov said Moscow will no longer trust that the West seeks a negotiated solution to the war against Ukraine, accusing Western nations of merely feigning readiness for talks while issuing ultimatums.

Lawrov’s remarks come amid a phase of massive Western military aid to Ukraine. NATO leaders at their July 7–8 summit decided to provide Ukraine with at least 140 billion euros in military support for 2026 and 2027. US Donald Trump also announced at the summit that the US would allow Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptor missiles.

At the same time, Trump portrayed Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries as an escalation that could end the war.
