France beat Morocco 2:0 in the quarter-final of the 2026 World Cup, according to Sport. Kylian Mbappé scored a goal and provided an assist. It was Mbappé’s eighth goal of the tournament, tying him with Lionel Messi at the top of the scoring chart.
Mbappé suffered an injury during the match. After the game, the 27-year-old striker said he had bruised his ankle but was fine. “I’m okay, I bruised my ankle, but everything is good. At that point, Jean-Philippe Mateta was better prepared to play the last 15 minutes, so I went off and he came on as a substitute. He played well and was close to scoring,” Mbappé said. He stressed that complacency was not an option: “There is a tougher game ahead, but we will recover quickly.”
In the semi-final, France will face the winner of the match between Spain and Belgium.
