The Berlin–Hamburg rail line will be closed again at night in August and September. Deutsche Bahn says it will fix remaining defects and carry out final optimizations.

Regular service on the Berlin–Hamburg line only resumed a few weeks ago, and now Deutsche Bahn is announcing the next restrictions. The company said further night-time closures are planned for August and September. They will address remaining defects identified during the first week of regular operations and carry out final infrastructure optimizations.

The major overhaul of the line lasted from August 2025 to June 2026. Originally, the route was to be fully reopened by the end of April, but the railway cited frost periods at the start of the year as the reason for the delay. The night closures are scheduled for the nights of August 15–16 and August 29–30, with additional individual closures to follow in September.

Long-distance and freight trains will be diverted during this period, and the railway will provide replacement services for regional traffic. Passengers should expect overnight schedule changes and replacement buses.
