At least 15 people were killed in a Russian ballistic missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region overnight. Numerous injuries and severe damage to civilian infrastructure were reported.

In the night leading into Thursday, Russia attacked Kyiv and the surrounding region with ballistic missiles and drones. According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 15 people were killed and dozens injured. The attacks began shortly after midnight and continued in several waves into the early morning hours.

Besides the capital, the cities of Brovary, Boryspil, and Vasylkiv were also affected. In Kyiv, residential buildings and warehouses burned, including in the Holosiiv, Obolon, Desna, and Sviatoshyn districts. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that several stores and logistics centers were hit, including Epitsentr hardware stores and warehouses of the online retailer Rozetka.

In Holosiiv, an ammonia leak occurred from a damaged facility. Rescue workers gave the all-clear, saying there was no danger to the population. In the Kyiv region, 14 people died, according to Governor Timur Tkachenko, most of them in the Brovary district. There and in other areas, firefighters extinguished fires for hours after the attack.
