Democrats have demanded a congressional briefing on Donald Trump’s secret plane switch. The former US president was quietly moved to another aircraft during a security scare, while an Air Force One carrying staff and reporters took off as a decoy.
Video footage shows Trump first boarding the old Air Force One in front of TV cameras, then being taken minutes later via a catering truck—normally used to bring food on board—to a smaller plane. The public and the press believed he was on the passenger aircraft.
Meanwhile, Peggy Flanagan, Minnesota’s lieutenant governor, celebrated a victory: she won her party’s primary for the US Senate against Angie Craig. Flanagan had focused her campaign on enforcing immigration rules.
In South Carolina, a runoff for the Senate seat is coming up: appointed Senator Darline Graham, who took over the mandate of the late Lindsey, faces Ralph Norman on August 25. The winner will duel with Annie Andrews in the November midterms.
