More than 20 killed and around 100 injured after Russian strikes on several Ukrainian cities

The death and injury toll from Russian attacks across multiple locations rose, with at least 22 killed and about 100 wounded, the BBC reports. The strikes affected cities including Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kramatorsk and caused damage to civilian infrastructure.

According to the BBC, the number of dead and injured from Russian attacks at several sites increased. At least 22 people were killed and around 100 were injured. Overnight on 6 May, the Russian military launched two ballistic missiles, a guided aviation weapon and 108 unmanned aerial vehicles; the Ukrainian Air Force shot down 89 drones, the report says.

In Sumy, two attacks using unmanned aerial vehicles damaged a kindergarten building; information on casualties is still being clarified, Mayor Artem Kobzar said. In the Sumy region fires broke out at residential houses and two people were injured, the state emergency service reports.

For Zaporizhzhia, 12 fatalities and 49 injured are reported; the region’s governor, Iwan Fedorow, said there were victims in the city and in the Zaporizhzhia and Pology districts.
