EU Pushes for Swift Accession Talks with Moldova

EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas visited Chisinau on May 8, emphasizing the need for rapid accession negotiations for Moldova. She stated that the breakaway region of Transnistria would not hinder Moldova's path to EU membership.

During her visit to Chisinau, Kaja Kallas highlighted the urgency of accession negotiations for Moldova and made it clear that the breakaway region of Transnistria would not pose an obstacle to EU membership.

Moldovan Maia Sandu plans to sign an accession agreement by 2028. The EU is also considering doubling its security support for Moldova to assist the country on its path to EU membership.

According to Anadolu Agency, the EU will advance the accession talks with Moldova to accelerate the country's integration into the European community. This could also promote stability in the region.
