In the prestigious Clásico against Real Madrid, FC Barcelona secured its 29th championship title early on matchday 35 of La Liga. The team, coached by Hansi Flick, whose father passed away shortly before the match, celebrated the victory with goals from Marcus Rashford (9th minute) and Ferran Torres (18th minute). This means the championship has been decided three games before the end of the season.
Hansi Flick, who won his fifth title with Barcelona this season, received emotional support from the fans. Before the match, a minute of silence was held in honor of his deceased father, and both teams wore black armbands. Flick fought back tears during the game.
Real Madrid remains without a title this season. In addition to sporting failures, there is an internal dispute between Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni, which led to fines of 500,000 euros each. Valverde missed the Clásico due to a skull-brain injury, while Tchouaméni was in the starting lineup.
The hosts showed a strong performance from the start. After a foul by Antonio Rüdiger at the edge of the penalty area, Rashford converted the resulting free kick precisely into the left corner. Shortly thereafter, Dani Olmo set up a beautiful assist, and Torres finished it off to make it 2-0. Real Madrid, whose team bus was attacked by Barcelona ultras upon arrival at Camp Nou, only found its footing in the game after the two goals.
