Donald Trump, the US President, expressed his views on his platform Truth Social regarding Iran's response to a US proposal aimed at ending the war. He labeled it as "completely unacceptable" and added, "I just read the response from the so-called 'representatives' of Iran. I don't like it – COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE." Further details about the proposal were not disclosed.

Just hours earlier, Trump confronted Tehran with additional threats, warning, "They won't be laughing for much longer!" Iran had previously forwarded its response to the US proposal through the intermediary Pakistan, as reported by the state-run Iranian news agency Irna.

According to the state-run Irib, the text proposed by Iran focuses on ending hostilities on all fronts, particularly in Lebanon, as well as ensuring the safety of shipping. The Iranian government is currently reviewing a 14-point proposal from the US, which aims to establish a framework for negotiations lasting initially 30 days to end the war.

Media reports indicate that discussions are also underway regarding a relaxation of US sanctions and agreements concerning the future of the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, a basis for negotiations over Iran's controversial nuclear program is to be established.

Recently, US forces attacked two Iranian oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman that were attempting to breach the US blockade en route to an Iranian port. The US Central Command (Centcom) stated that US fighter jets targeted the vessels, rendering them inoperable.

This incident marks another escalation of the already fragile ceasefire. Previously, the US had attacked targets on the Iranian mainland, while Iran retaliated by attacking three US military ships with missiles and speedboats. Both sides dispute the sequence of the respective attacks.

A confidential intelligence assessment obtained by the Washington Post concludes that Iran is in a significantly better position than Donald Trump claims, indicating fundamental issues in US strategy.
