Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has traveled to Kyiv to deepen defense cooperation with Ukraine. The visit by the SPD politician was unannounced for security reasons. The aim is to develop new weapon systems and expand collaboration between the two countries.

"Germany and Ukraine are strategic partners who both benefit from cooperation. This leads to numerous new projects," Pistorius explained to the dpa news agency. The minister emphasized that the focus is on developing state-of-the-art unmanned systems of any range that can also reach targets deep within another country.

The German government also plans to initiate further German-Ukrainian joint ventures. "We benefit from the experiences of the Ukrainians on the battlefield," Pistorius added. Through the Brave One platform, developers of promising innovations are to be supported.

In recent years, Ukraine has significantly enhanced its capabilities in drone warfare and is now considered a leader in this field. Ukrainian drones increasingly target locations far behind the front lines, raising pressure on Russian troops.

The German government has recently expanded its support for Ukraine and aims to attract private German investors for investments in Ukrainian defense companies. These measures are part of a long-term strategic partnership between Germany and Ukraine.
