The situation surrounding Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, escalated on Monday as several cabinet ministers urged him to present a clear timeline for his resignation. According to The Guardian, former minister Yvette Cooper and Home Shabana Mahmood advised Starmer to oversee an orderly transition of power after the Labour Party suffered significant defeats in the recent elections.

A cabinet member commented to The Guardian, stating: "Ultimately, Keir has listened to the cabinet ministers – there are differing opinions on where this will lead and what is in the best interest of the party and the country. He needs to make a decision before the cabinet meets tomorrow."

Dissatisfaction within the party is growing, as Scottish Labour MP Gordon McKee has also called for Starmer to resign. He stated on platform X that the message from Glasgow and across the country is clear: "The Prime Minister has lost the public's trust."

Internal tensions are heightened by the fact that some cabinet ministers, including Richard Hermer and Steve Reed, are encouraging Starmer to continue fighting. However, reports indicate that dissatisfaction with Andy Burnham and Wes Streeting, who are seen as co-contributors to the leadership crisis, is increasing.
