The defendant Daniela Klette wishes to present her own plea before the Verden Regional Court. Her lawyers announced this, as reported by Tagesspiegel. However, the pleas from the joint plaintiffs and the defense are scheduled to take place first, expected on Tuesday at 10:00 AM.
The prosecution is seeking a 15-year prison sentence for Klette on charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery as part of a gang, and violations of weapons laws. According to the indictment, the 66-year-old, along with her alleged accomplices Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub, is accused of robbing cash transporters and supermarkets in several cities between 1999 and 2016, often masked and heavily armed. The gang is said to have stolen more than two million euros to finance their life underground.
Klette was arrested in Berlin and has been on trial in Lower Saxony since March 2025. The trial is now nearing its conclusion. Klette is primarily known for her former membership in the Red Army Faction (RAF).
