French police detained 780 people overnight Saturday after fans of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) celebrated the team’s Champions League victory against Arsenal. Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez told a press conference that 57 officers were injured, most of them lightly. The clashes occurred in about 15 cities, including Paris.

Fans set fires and vandalized shops. A small group even tried to storm a police station in Paris. Nuñez stressed that most celebrations were peaceful. The worst incidents were concentrated around the Champs-Élysées and near the Parc des Princes, where fans had watched the match. Police intervened five times to prevent blockades on the Paris ring road.

In the capital alone, 480 people were arrested. Paris prosecutor’s office said 277 people remained in police custody, including 82 minors. Charges range from assaulting police officers to theft, vandalism, and public order disturbances. Nuñez said the situation was now largely under control.
