Three months before the state election in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the AfD is clearly ahead with 35 percent in a poll by the institute Insa Consulere for the “Nordkurier.” This represents an increase of one percentage point compared to March.
The governing SPD of Manuela Schwesig gained two points and now reaches 28 percent. The co-governing Left Party stands at 11 percent, while the opposition CDU falls to 10 percent.
The poll shows that Schwesig’s red-red coalition would no longer have a majority. The state election takes place on September 20.
