BBL Playoffs: Ratiopharm Ulm eliminated by Bamberg

Ratiopharm Ulm lost the third quarterfinal game of the BBL playoffs against Bamberg 87:96 and is thus eliminated. According to Sportschau, 6,000 fans in the Ulm arena were disappointed.

Ulm’s basketball players started weakly, quickly trailing 2:8 in the first quarter. After six and a half minutes, Mark Smith gave them their first lead at 16:15 with a free throw, and Justin Simon extended it to 20:15. But Bamberg countered with fast breaks, ending the first quarter 28:27.

The second quarter remained close, with the score tied 47:47 at halftime. After the break, the visitors came out more focused and pulled away. Cobe Williams made it 51:62, and soon Bamberg led 66:79. Ibi Watson scored 28 points and was unstoppable.

In the final quarter, Ulm fought back to within seven points, but difficult shots didn’t fall. The final score was 87:96. Bamberg, coached by former Ulm championship coach Anton Gavel, advances to the semifinals, where they will face Würzburg or Bonn.
