President Volodymyr Zelensky said Belarus had switched off the retransmitters that Russia used to steer Shahed drones at Ukrainian targets. He cited reports from Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi and Ukrainian intelligence services. The systems on Belarusian territory ceased operating on Monday, Zelensky told RBC-Ukraine.
Zelensky had issued a public ultimatum to Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko last week, giving him one week to remove military equipment near Ukraine’s border. “Since the first days of this war, missiles from Belarus have killed children and adults,” Zelensky said. He threatened that Ukraine would disable the systems itself if Belarus did not act.
It remains unclear whether the devices have been dismantled, according to Zelensky. “The fact is that the retransmitters are not working as of today,” he said. There were no official comments from Minsk. Moscow had previously condemned Zelensky’s ultimatum as “absolutely aggressive” and called it interference in Belarus’s internal affairs.
