Interior Minister Jan Redmann (CDU) presented the draft law for its first reading in the Potsdam state parliament on Wednesday. “We want to make the law more user-friendly,” Redmann said. Among other things, the draft provides for an improved legal status for members of aid organizations.

In addition to child protection, the reform also includes regulations for modern operational equipment such as drones. “The formation of joint company fire brigades will be possible in the future,” Redmann said. This is intended to exploit synergies and relieve companies. The deployment options for professional fire brigades are also to be made more flexible.
