The Court of Appeal in London has confirmed the ban on the pro-Palestinian group Palestine Action, ruling that its classification as a terrorist organization is lawful, according to Der Spiegel.

The British government under Keir Starmer banned Palestine Action in summer 2024 under anti-terrorism laws. The move followed incidents where activists broke into an air force base and sprayed military aircraft with paint.

In February, the High Court initially ruled the ban unlawful. The government appealed, keeping the measure in force temporarily. Now the Court of Appeal has upheld the decision: the ban is a justified and proportionate interference with freedom of expression, the judges ruled.

Presiding Judge Sue Carr stressed that the group openly calls for violence amounting to terrorism. Palestine Action has repeatedly used property damage as part of its strategy. Since the ban, more than 3,000 people have been arrested at support rallies, according to Amnesty International.

Co-founder Huda Ammori announced plans to appeal to the Supreme Court and, if necessary, take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.
