The decision had been looming for some time: the pay raise for the 630 Bundestag members will be suspended this year. According to Bayerischer Rundfunk, all parliamentary groups support forgoing the increase of nearly 500 euros in monthly allowances.
As a result, the basic remuneration of MPs will remain at the current level for now. The allowances normally rise automatically in line with general wage developments – a mechanism that will be suspended for 2025.
