The parliamentary groups of Alliance 90/The Greens and the SPD have called for the withdrawal of the two Bundeswehr ships deployed to the region. The demand comes amid renewed escalation of the Iran war.
Sara Nanni, defense policy spokesperson for the Greens parliamentary group, told the RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND) that she expects the crews of the ships “Fulda” and “Mosel” will spend the summer in Germany.
Adis Ahmetovic, foreign policy spokesperson for the SPD parliamentary group, also considers a redeployment possible. He stated that the ceasefire is extremely fragile. “What happens next with our two ships must be tied daily to the security situation on the ground,” Ahmetovic told RND.
