FC Bayern Munich goes into the DFB Women’s Cup final against Wolfsburg as the clear favorite. The match will take place on Thursday, May 14, at 4 PM at the stadium in Cologne-Müngersdorf. It will be broadcast live on ZDF, starting at 3:40 PM. Additionally, ARD-Sportschau will provide an audio live commentary.
The women of Wolfsburg secured their spot in the final with a nail-biting victory in a penalty shootout against Carl Zeiss Jena. In contrast, Bayern Munich has shown strong performance throughout the season and aims to win the cup to crown their successful campaign.
The final will be played in a knockout format. If the score is tied after 90 minutes, a 30-minute extra time will follow. Should there still be no winner, a penalty shootout will determine the cup champion. The cup winners from the 21 regional associations are also participating in the competition, provided they have not been promoted to the 2. Bundesliga.
Since 2010, the DFB Women’s Cup final has been held at the stadium in Cologne-Müngersdorf. In the first round, 36 teams qualify, including the 14 clubs from the 1. Bundesliga and 13 teams from the second division. Bundesliga teams only enter the competition in the second round.
