German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (CSU) considers a blanket ban on social media for children unenforceable. Instead, parents must pay closer attention to their children’s usage, he said, according to Euronews.
With this stance, Dobrindt distances himself from his own sister party, the CDU, which supports such a ban. He also finds no support for the European movement pushing for stricter online regulations.
The minister doubts the effectiveness of a ban and relies on families’ own responsibility. He has no concrete legislative initiative planned.
