The lead lies with the Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernization. The inaugural meeting is planned for this Thursday, according to the letter to the state secretaries. The goal is to gain an overview of ongoing AI measures by autumn and align them with each other.

According to the invitation letter, the ministries want to develop Germany into an “AI nation.” To this end, initiatives distributed across various departments are to be more strongly bundled. AI questions of foreign and security policy are also to be addressed.

The background of the task force is the rapid development in the AI field, which could have significant economic impacts. Experts also see Europe’s dependence on the leading AI nations of the USA and China as a challenge.
