This weekend, the triathlon elite gathers in Hamburg. The German relay team aims for a podium finish at their home event.

Hamburg will host the triathlon event on Sunday, July 12, 2026, where the German relay team will compete for the world championship title. The men’s race starts at 1:15 PM, followed by the women’s race at 3:00 PM. The relay event begins at 5:10 PM and will be broadcast live on ZDF. The course consists of a 750-meter swim, six laps of 3.3 kilometers on the bike, and two laps of 2.5 kilometers on foot.

The German team has celebrated successes in the past, including a third-place finish last year in Hamburg. Sports director Moeller expressed optimism: “We have put together a very good series; the bar is incredibly high.” The world champion team will also receive four starting spots for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

German athletes, including Lisa Tertsch, who has already won the European title, and Laura Lindemann, who has collected five individual medals in Hamburg, are ready for the challenge. Moeller emphasizes that the relay competition will be the “emotional highlight” of the weekend.
