Germany’s domestic intelligence agency, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (Verfassungsschutz), warns of a creeping infiltration of German institutions by Islamists. This development is not driven by violence but by subversive strategies aimed at gaining societal acceptance. Güner Balci, integration commissioner for Berlin-Neukölln, expressed alarm on the talk show ‘Markus Lanz’, stating: ‘The patriarchy has immigrated.’

Balci criticized that, alongside many willing to integrate, young men with outdated gender roles have also come to Germany. She sees a ‘growing reactionary understanding of Islam’ spreading through associations and social milieus. Decision-makers, she argued, underestimate the danger of ‘mainstream Islam’ and its influence on society.

The debate on Islamism is often hampered by accusations of Islamophobia, which blocks necessary discussions. Contradiction came from publicist Khola Maryam Hübsch, who emphasized that the majority of Muslims have nothing to do with Islamism.
